Tse-whit-zen (an ancient native burial ground)
(Clallam County)
Base of Port Angeles Harbor
Port Angeles, WA USA
NO RECORDS OF BURIALS - An ancient native burial ground that was discovered when the state was building a dry dock at the base of the Port Angeles Harbor. The construction ended, while the Lower Elwha S’Klallam Tribe and archaeologist began excavation. Over 300 skeletons and thousands of artifacts have been discovered. The bodies have been reburied at the site. It is the largest native village ever discovered in Washington State. There are plans for a museum at the site.
